Michael Mansoor Scholarships

Offering scholarships to students at Roman Catholic Schools in Barbados and Trinidad

On the death of its founding Executive Chairman, Michael Mansoor in 2014, CIBC Caribbean made a commitment towards furthering the education of children attending the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic School in Barbados, where Mr. Mansoor resided for many years.

Mr. Mansoor, who along with our first CEO, Charles Pink, masterfully negotiated with governments and unions across the Caribbean, leading to the birth of the regional bank, credits his academic development to educational access provided by a Catholic School. It is for this reason that we offer scholarships to the students at Roman Catholic Schools in Barbados and provide additional educational support for children in Trinidad.

In addition, we are in partnership with the CITY programme, part of the Pride of Gonzales initiatives that benefit young people in the Gonzales, Belmont community in Trinidad. The programme is aimed at community development and focuses on the youth, crime prevention, and equipping young people from the area with life skills to build sustainable livelihoods.

Part of the project is a homework centre. The centre fell into disrepair after it was closed during the Covid pandemic. The bank’s latest donation will assist with its refurbishment. Before its closure, the homework centre also housed the digital literacy centre named after Michael Mansoor.  The bank’s former executive chairman passed away in 2014. Michael Mansoor always had it in his heart to support education and communities in need, so we are ensuring that his legacy continues by keeping the donation going.
